Annual Castagna Festival @ Italo-Canadian Club of Kingston

Everyone is invited to our Annual Castagna Festival! Kick off the winter season with roasted chestnuts in our Saletta room. The Castagna Festival is an annual event that has grown with the Italo Club over the years, and is anticipated with excitement as the first event of the winter season. Always well attended, it is the perfect family outing for all ages and is timed to take place conveniently after most church services have finished for the day. Deeply rooted in Italian tradition, this event will be the perfect start for your family’s holiday season. Free for members, $5.00 for non-members. Tickets are non-refundable.

About Castagna

castagnata (pl. castagnate) is an Italian word that is used to describe one of two things:

  • a food festival dedicated to chestnuts and the different ways you can eat them – roasted, boiled, ground into flour and so on;
  • a small or large chestnut roaster set up alongside a food festival, an art and craft market or any other such event.

Castagnate are held all over Italy in the months of October and November. The unmistakeably delicious smell of a chestnut roaster can be found in local festivals and celebrations to art and craft markets and even school fetes. Can’t make the trip to Italy? Don’t worry, everyone is invited to our Annual Castagna Festival!

About the Italo Club

The Italo-Canadian Club is a reception, conference and banquet facility. We believe beautiful events can be accessible at any budget. That is why we remain one of the most affordable banquet halls in Kingston. Whether you are planning a small intimate affair or a large-scale celebration, we are the perfect choice for your special day. Known for amazing food, Italian hospitality, and a beautiful ballroom, we have grown since 1963. The original club building and the land we are on was purchased and built by the Italian community. To this day much of the work is done by our Italian volunteers. We remain dedicated to being a social center for Italians and Canadians.
